The MLA for Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre, Jason Nixon, released a statement Thursday morning, sharing his thoughts on current vaccine mandates and why they need to end.
In the statement, Nixon said, “My position on vaccine mandates is that they need to end. I’ve told this to the Premier, to caucus, and now you. You’ll note that the Premier said they’ll be gone imminently, and I’ll hold him to it.
Nixon also went on saying, “Mandates were brought in at the recommendation of health officials to deal with a very serious situation and protect our hospital system while keeping businesses open.” Nixon also added, “But it is clear now that mandates like the Restrictions Exemption Program are not as effective against the current COVID-19 situation as much as health officials expected.”
Nixon later in his statement went after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for how he is handling things with the federal border, stating, “At the federal border, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pouring gasoline on the flames as several industries wait for goods to cross the U.S. border.” Nixon proceeded to say, “ I encourage you to also contact your local Member of Parliament to express your concern with the federal border vaccination mandate.”
Nixon concluded his statement by saying, “I will continue to demand that Prime Minister Trudeau immediately remove the mandate at the border.”
