Local organizers and sponsors have come together to present the Condor Community Hall Fall Trade Show – and for the first time ever, it will be a two-day event.
Organizers say the event aims to raise funds to continue offering value-added improvements within Condor, specifically ongoing maintenance, upkeep and improvements at the community hall itself
“We have to replace part of the roof on our hall,” says Penny Lougheed, president of the Condor Community Centre. “As well as upgrades to meet more modern fire codes.”
The hall was originally built in 1982, she says, and the organization today tries to keep up the tradition of financial stewardship, as the original $200,000 loan from 40 years ago was paid off in only two years.
Many vendors, along with food, snacks, raffles, 50/50 draws, as well as face painter will be part of the event, says Lougheed.
Lougheed adds, the hall is a popular gathering spot for weddings, dances, celebrations, as well as stage performances from local schools.
Community efforts to improve the skating rink and nearby baseball diamonds are also nearing completion, she notes.
Lougheed credits the hard work of volunteer Brandon Cordick for seeing this event come to fruition.
“We’re going to be raising funds for renovations to the hall, to continue to offer services for the community, and to make sure that community seniors and kids groups have a place to meet,” says Cordick.
Cordick hopes to see a lot of buzz within Condor, as the market is moving to a two-day event for the first time ever.
“We usually do one-day markets, Saturdays or Sundays, and they’re just a small market,” says Cordick. “I’m shooting for the moon on this one.”
Along with a promotional video package valued at $3000 donated by iEvolve Media, Cordick says there’s other door prizes valued at $250, $100 gas cards from Koch Fuel, as well as an oil change from Edwards Garage in Rocky Mountain House.
The event runs at the Condor Community Centre (618 Range Rd. 45, Clearwater County) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 28-29.
Admission to the event is free, with food and concession on site.
94.5 Rewind Radio is a sponsor of this event.
