The Rocky Peewee Jr. Rebels returned from the bye week strong out of the gate with a commanding 50-22 victory against the Olds Huskies on Oct 5.
Like the two previous games, the Rebels were determined to come out strong, and continue their march up the league standings.
A strong first half of play, on the back of WR Gabriel Rogers three rushing TDs, as well as rushing TDs from RB Kyler Velichka and Rowan Fraser, saw the Rebels up 44-6 going into halftime.
These TDs were set up on strong runs from QB Grayson Nichol and RB Crewe Brower, as well as on two kick-off recoveries by Richard Oko.
The defensive effort in the first half was supported by timely tackles from LB Bryson Fehr, DB Parker McCullogh, LB Katarina Zeller, as well as DL Bayne Robertson, and Reiss Desjarlais.
The Olds Huskies came out of halftime looking to put a dent into the Rebels’ lead.
Quickly striking with two TDs, the Huskies closed the gap to 44-22.
The Rebels answered back in the fourth quarter with a receiving TD to RB Rowan Fraser.
That was enough for the Rebels defence, with big tackles from DB Brantley O’Neill, DL Chase Sukow, and DL Cooper Sheppard-Cochran, to lock down the victory.
After week six, the Rebels are now fourth out of 10 teams in league standings.
In week seven action, the Rebels are once again on the road to face the Strathmore Badgers.
Kickoff at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12th.
Week seven is the final game of the regular season, with playoffs starting on Saturday, Oct. 19th.
