The Rocky Health Foundation has announced it has received a $100,000 donation from West Fraser LVL Division which will go toward the purchase of two new pieces of equipment for the new operating room at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.
The two new pieces of equipment, a Panda Warmer for newborns and a C-MAC video varyngoscope intubation system, will serve the maternity ward at the hospital.
Panda Warmers are used for newborns and they provide a warming environment while monitoring critical newborn parameters.
A C-MAC video laryngoscope is a video system aiding intubation in patients which ensures the anesthetist can deliver oxygen and assist with breathing during surgery or in emergency situations.
Rocky Health Foundation chair Shirley Hope says the organization is “over the moon” about the large, somewhat unexpected donation.
“They did let us know that they were working behind the scenes to provide a sizeable fund,” says Hope. “We had no idea until they released the information to us.”
The Rocky Health Foundation will be announcing its next fundraising campaign in November.
