A return to play in front of hometown fans was soured as the Rocky Rams dropped two home ice decisions over the weekend.
On Nov. 16, the first game of the home stand was also the first regular season meeting against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.
After giving up a powerplay goal late in the first, the Rams then allowed two unanswered goals in the third. A late third period marker from Graedy Landry was too little too late as the team skated away with a 3-1 loss.
The team didn’t fare any better during a matinee matchup against Medicine Hat on Nov. 17.
Rocky got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first with markers from Jake Smith and Reid Christiansen. The next 23 minutes of play was a back-and-forth affair with the teams trading goals.
However, the proverbial wheels came off with the Rams giving up 5 unanswered goals in the last half of the game, losing to the Cubs 9-4.
The 6-10 Rams sit fifth in the HJHL’s Northern Division.
They will wrap up the three-game home stand on Nov. 23, against the Three Hills Thrashers.
