It was a monkey-off-your-back performance as the Rocky Rams snapped an elongated, five-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon with a 4-3 overtime win against the Wheatland Kings in front of hometown fans at the Rocky Arena.
The Rams ended 40 minutes of play with a 3-1 lead thanks to two second frame markers from Reid Christiansen.
However, the team saw its lead evaporate with the Kings scoring two unanswered goals in the third.
With the possibility of a sixth straight loss on the line, the team headed to overtime. To the relief of the hometown faithful, it didn’t take long for the game to get resolved, as Clayton Johnson found the net less than three minutes into extra time to secure the W.
The win followed a 4-0 shutout loss to the HJHL-leading Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Nov. 29.
The 7-12-0 Rams will face off against the Three Hills Thrashers for the third time this season. A Nov. 23 game against Three Hills was postponed.
Puck drop is 8:00 p.m. Dec. 7 on the road.
