The Rocky Health Foundation is one step closer to reaching its fundraising goal for the Heart of the Community initiative, with a generous $100,000 donation from an anonymous community donor.
This latest contribution brings the campaign’s total to over 80 per cent of its $444,000 target, aimed at purchasing 18 new cardiac monitors for the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.
Shirley Hope, chair of the foundation, expressed her excitement over the donation, noting it just one donation received during the Christmas break. She praised the continued support from the community, however, highlighting contributions such as Dovercourt Hall’s recent $5,000 donation, as key to the campaign’s momentum.
Hope adds, the Heart of the Community initiative has become one of the fastest fundraising campaigns in the foundation’s history, with progress accelerating quickly. Hope compared it to the previous Healthy Hospital campaign, which raised $750,000 over two years, although the majority of funds came in during a shorter period.
As the new year begins, the foundation remains focused on reaching its $444,000 goal and is confident that, with continued community support, they will achieve it soon. Hope expressed deep gratitude for the generosity of all donors, noting that fundraising efforts will continue until the target is met.
“We are so grateful for every donation, no matter the size,” Hope said. “The support from our community has been incredible, and we are eager to see this campaign through to completion.”
The funds raised will go toward purchasing the 18 cardiac monitors, which will enhance patient care at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre and provide critical equipment for those in need of cardiac monitoring.
The modern equipment will serve diverse needs at the hospital, including the ability to monitor infants’ heartbeats and those in trauma situations.
Two previous, anonymous donations of $100,000 were forwarded late in 2024. Additionally, local organizations such as Next To New, Domino’s Pizza, and Western Wheels Auto Club also donated funds to the cause.
