The Rocky Rams got the new year off on the right foot with a convincing, 6-3 home win against the Coaldale Copperheads.
The Rams got the scoring started early with Owen Green and Jake Smith finding the net in the first half of the first, and never looked back.
Clayton Johnson and Reid Christiansen had a nose for the net as well with both recording markers in the second and third periods.
Goaltender Cole McLean turned away 24 Coaldale shots with an 0.889 per cent save percentage.
Head coach Wendall Mason credits depth contributions from all four lines as key to the victory.
That includes third and fourth line checking from Owen Green, Dextin Dieterle-Reimer, Quinn Schriver, and Rocky native, Caleb Christiansen.
“Guys needed a good reset at Christmas, and I think they got that,” said Mason.
Despite a tough stretch at the end of 2024, Mason feels the team deserved too many of those games, and hopes to continue momentum into 2025.
The Rams will host the Ponoka Stampeders on Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
They’ll also meet the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Jan. 12 for a matinee at 2:30 p.m.
