The Town of Rocky Mountain House is offering pet owners a break on dog licensing fees for 2025, with discounts available until January 31.
As part of the Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, dog licenses are being discounted by $15 or $20, depending on certain criteria.
The discount applies to both current and new residents, as well as new pet owners. Unaltered dogs will see a $20 reduction, bringing the fee to $40, while spayed or neutered dogs will be eligible for a $15 discount, lowering the cost to $15.
The discount does not apply to aggressive dogs with registration for unaltered aggressive dogs set at $300 and spayed or neutered aggressive dogs at $200.
The reduced fees are available for those who register between December 1 and January 31. Proof of spaying or neutering is required for dogs being registered for the first time.
The Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw mandates a yearly license fee for all dogs over three months of age within town limits. Owners will receive a tag upon payment, which must be securely attached to their dog’s collar. Licenses can be purchased at the Town Office, located at 5116-50 Avenue.
Residents are reminded that licenses must be purchased by Jan. 31, to avoid penalties. Violation tickets may be issued for any contraventions of the bylaw.
