Council for the Town of Rocky Mountain House has approved an increase to the Town’s capital budget for a new Community Peace Officer (CPO) vehicle.
During their regular meeting this week, council was asked by Doug Fraser, Acting Director of Engineering and Operations for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, for an additional $10,000 for the new CPO vehicle.
“For policing vehicles, manufacturers will give up to $9,000 off for a half-ton truck,” said Fraser. “Due to COVID and also a higher need for vehicles, they are no longer giving that discount,” he added.
Councilor Len Phillips weighed in by saying, “Unfortunately all you have to do is drive by the vehicle lots now-a-days and there are just no vehicles, no supplies. It’s unfortunate it’s going to impact us but it’s just the reality of it.”
Mayor Baich and council agreed to Fraser’s request, and approved an increase to the capital budget for the new CPO vehicle by $10,000, increasing the vehicle’s budget from 65,000 to $75,000.
