Residential curbside recycling collection is coming to Rocky Mountain House next month.
Town council approved curbside recycling during their meeting on Tuesday, with Town officials noting the service is included in residential solid waste and diversion fees already reflected on resident’s monthly utility bills. Residence monthly utility payments, however, will not change due to this program. Town officials say the cost breakdown for curbside recycling will be approximately $2 per month.
The program is set to begin May 2 and once the program begins, residents are asked to have their recycling out by 7 a.m. on your assigned day. The Town says it will be releasing a schedule with dates and times for each neighbourhood soon.
The Town is asking residents to not use black or opaque bags for recycling as they will be picked up as trash. Instead, residents are asked to use clear bags or transparent blue bags. After your recycling is picked up, it will be taken to Capital Paper in Edmonton. Officials say this large-scale facility also handles the products accepted in the Rocky Mountain House curbside recycling program.
