Clearwater County is teaming up with Mountain View BearSmart Society and Alberta BearSmart to host bear and cougar safety presentations throughout the County.
Officials say those who attend will learn how to avoid an encounter with a bear, how to act appropriately if you encounter a bear and how to manage attractants to reduce human-bear conflict at your home and in the community. There will also be bear spray training (with inert spray). The bear spray training will be held outdoors in the parking lot (weather permitting).
Dates in the County are set for:
- Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Nordegg Community Centre on Stuart Street in Nordegg.
- Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at The Subway Room at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre located at 5332-50 Street (Will Sinclair Drive), Rocky Mountain House.
- Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Caroline Community Hub/Kurt Browning Arena, located at 5103-48 Avenue, Caroline.
