An Evacuation Order caused by a wildfire about 19 km west of Nordegg has now been lifted.
According to Alberta Emergency Alert, however, an Evacuation Alert is in place for the Centre for Outdoor Education, Fish Lake Provincial Recreation Area (PRA), Frontier Lodge, Goldeye Centre, Goldeye Lake PRA and surrounding areas.
Snow Creek PRA and the Haven Road and area remain closed to public access to allow for continued safe firefighting operations.
Officials say an Evacuation Alert means residents and public in the Alert area should be packed and prepared to leave on short notice should the wildfire status change and an evacuation be necessary. With this change in fire status to Being Held, the Evacuation Alert for Nordegg has now been lifted.
According to Alberta Wildfire officials, the blaze remains at approximately 507 hectares. View the area map here.
