The Rocky Rams were back in action this weekend, after their game against Red Deer the weekend before was cancelled.
The Rocky Rams hosted the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Saturday.
In the first period the Rams would get outshot 16-7. The lone goal in the first period came at 6:55 when Reed Chalmers of the Thunder would score an unassisted goal, giving the Thunder a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
It was all Rams in the second period after Quinn Tomalty would score to tie the game 1-1 on the powerplay just 2:56 in the frame, with assists coming from Kyle Humphrey and Grady Mofford. The Rams would not stop there and would take a 2-1 lead after Quinn Tomalty would score his second goal of the game just over three minutes later, with assists coming off the sticks of Caleb Andrew and Bryn Hoiland. The Rams kept up the pressure late in the second period and would find the back of the net for their third unanswered goal when Caleb Christiansen scored, giving the Rams a 3-1 lead, heading into the final period. Cale Stecyk and Owen Green assisted on the play.
The third period, the Thunder would try to cut into the Rams lead. The Thunder managed to outshoot the Rams 23-9 but it was the Rams who would strike first in the third on a shorthanded goal from Bryn Hoiland giving the Rams a 4-1 lead, with the assist coming from Quinn Tomalty. The Thunder, however, would find the back of the net in the dying seconds when Jack Turton would score on the powerplay at 19:49.
The Rams would hold onto win 4-2.
Rams goalie Lex Watson held his ground between the pipes stopping 48 of the 50 shots he faced.
The Rams now sit in fourth place in the Northern Division with a record of 5-8-2.
The Rams have a busy weekend coming up with three games on the schedule, including a road game in Cochrane Friday night, another road game in Three Hills Saturday night, and back home to host Medicine Hat on Sunday.
