The Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rocky is hosting a walk-up advent calendar until Dec. 24.
Rosemary Brown, Choir Director and member of the Outreach Committee for the church, says Advent is a time of preparation for the church as they prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ (Christmas Day).
“Advent calendars are a way to count down the dates leading up to Christmas. Ours is called an outdoor walk up calendar because it is a mailbox outside the church which has the date on it and which contains a daily surprise. The surprises vary, a few are directed at children, a lesser few are directed to adults, and most are age forgiving,” added Brown.
Brown explains, the advent box is an Outreach Project in which they wish to share the joy and true meaning of advent in the Christian calendar with the community.
The advent calendar Brown notes is open until Dec. 24, and is open to all ages.
