Meteorologists with Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the Rocky Mountain House-Caroline area, as well as for the Nordegg, Forestry Trunk Road – Highway 734.
Officials say extremely cold wind chill values of minus 40 are continuing with conditions expected to moderate somewhat during the afternoon.
Officials say extreme cold puts everyone at risk, so dress warmly. You’re encouraged to dress in layers so that you can remove them if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
You’re also reminded that if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

- Brazeau Co. near Cynthia and Lodgepole
- Clearwater Co. near Caroline and James River Bridge
- Clearwater Co. near Rocky Mtn House and Crimson Lake
- O’Chiese 203 Res. and Clearwater Co. near Sunchild Cree Res.
- Yellowhead Co. near Minnow and Wolf Lakes and Elk River
- Clearwater Co. near Chungo Creek
- Clearwater Co. near Nordegg and Big Horn Res.
- Clearwater Co. near Ya-Ha-Tinda Ranch
- Yellowhead Co. near Cadomin and Robb
