A Septic Sense Workshop hosted by Clearwater County is coming to Town later this month.
It will take place Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 8:00 p.m via Microsoft Teams. A link will be sent following email registration.
Officials say rural property owners are responsible for ensuring their systems operate properly and safely. Officials add, if you have a septic system on your rural property, you will benefit from attending this workshop.
Presenters are anticipated to teach those in attendance how to understand, assess and properly manage your septic system, enabling you to protect your investment in your property and the valuable natural assets associated with your land.
Residents are encouraged tp learn what you can do to properly manage and maintain your septic system. You can attend the virtual Septic Sense Workshop hosted and presented by Clearwater County, with technical expertise provided by the Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association (AOWMA) and materials developed by Land Stewardship Centre (LSC).
During the workshop, organizers are expected to cover:
• What a septic system is and how it works
• Regulations
• Design and installation
• Appropriate use of your septic system
• Maintaining your septic system
• Troubleshooting
Officials have named Rick Baxter as the presenter. Rick is described as the Lead Plumbing and Gas Safety Codes Officer with Inspections Group. Officials say he started in the plumbing trade 25 years ago and became an inspector in 2011. Baxter is said to volunteer in many aspects of the industry. He is currently on the Board of Directors for AOWMA and the Alberta Mechanical Officials Society. Baxter is also the past chair of the Certification Review Committee and continues to sit on the committee as a subject matter expert.
