The Rocky Rams were back in action over the weekend with a pair of games.
On Friday, the Rams packed the bus and headed to Sylvan Lake for a date with the Wranglers.
In the first period it was the Wranglers striking first at 3:39 after Payton Wright found the back of the net, with Zachary Daniels and Hunter Adrian getting the assists to make it 1-0 Sylvan. Just over three minutes later, it was Payton Wright scoring his second goal of the game to give the Wranglers a 2-0 lead , with the goal assisted by Tate Causey and Brody Pearson. The Rams would get back to within a goal, however, after Cale Stecyk scored at 8:03 to make it 2-1. Nick Jervis and Caleb Andrew assisted on the play. The goals would keep coming in the first period after Wranglers defenseman Ethan Alvarez would give the Sylvan Lake a 3-1 lead after a powerplay goal, with the assist coming from Ashlain Dufresne. The Rams would keep pushing though and would get a buzzer beater at 19:58 after a Reid Christiansen goal, assisted by Caleb Andrew and Jake Smith. After 20 minutes, the Wranglers lead 3-2.
In the second period, the Rams would tie the game 3-3 at 2:11 after Reid Christiansen would score his second goal of the game which was assisted by Jake Smith and Grady Mofford. The tie game would not last long though as Ryan Wyzykoski would reclaim the Wranglers lead 4-3 at 3:27, with the assist coming from the stick of Bennett Downing.
In the third period, the Rams would tie the game 4-4 after a powerplay goal from Kyle Humphrey. Reid Christiansen and Nick Jervis would get the assists. Then, just 1:18 later, the Rams would score again and would take their first lead of the game 5-4 after Cale Stecyk notched his second goal of the game. However, the Wranglers would end up tying game 5-5 with just 10 seconds left in regulation after Payton Wright completed the hat-trick.
The overtime period did not take long to find a hero, however, because just 29 seconds in, Jake Smith of the Rams would score his eighth goal of the year, assisted by Reid Christiansen and Grady Mofford, and would push the Rams to a 6-5 victory.

On Saturday, the Rams travelled to Didsbury for a game against the Mountianview Colts.
In the first period, it was the Colts opening the scoring at 2:37 after a Logan Richards goal, assisted by Haiden Parks. The Colts would keep up the pressure and would get a late period goal from Carter Hewitt to improve the Colts lead to 2-0, with Aidan Saunders getting the loan assist.
In the second period, the Colts would continue where they left off in the first period, as Steven Bell would score an unassisted goal at 2:26 to give the Colts a 3-0 lead. The Colts weren’t done there, however, as they would add one more second period goal to take a 4-0 lead after Simon Leischner found the back of the net at 9:02, assisted by Ryan Bauer.
In the final period, the Rams would solve Colts goalie Chance Griffith after Tristan Hoffus would score his 17 goal of the year, assisted by Nick Jervis and Grady Mofford. The Colts would end up adding one more goal in the third period though after Haiden Parks would score to make it a final score of 5-1.
The Rams posted an impressive 32 shots but Colts Goalie Chance Griffith was a brick wall between the pipes. The Colts still managed to outshoot the Rams with 66 shots of their own.
The Rams are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 11, when they travel to Red Deer to play the Vipers. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at the Servus Arena.
