Due to rising waters in the North Saskatchewan River, the Town of Rocky Mountain House has closed off popular walking trails.

Town officials say this includes an immediate closure of Riverside Park and walking trails north and south of the water treatment plant.

Officials note, river water is rising rapidly and flooding the lower parking lot and trails.

All residents are being asked to avoid the area.
