The Rocky Rams travelled to Sylvan Lake yesterday in hopes of taking a 3-2 lead in their best of seven series.
The Wranglers, however, were the ones to go up 3-2 after a 5-0 shutout victory over the Rocky Rams Tuesday evening.
In the first period the Rams only managed to get two shots on net, compared to Sylvan Lakes 13. The Rams also would go 0/2 on the powerplay, the Wranglers would also go 0/2 on the powerplay. The first goal of the period came at 18:12 when Wranglers forward Konnor Green found the back of the net for his third of the playoffs, with Hayden Motowylo and Aydden Shaw earning the assists.
In the second period the Wranglers would take a 2-0 lead after Foxx Doell scored a shorthanded goal at 10:36. Keenan Green earned the lone assist. Just under two minutes later the Wranglers would claim a 3-0 lead when Hayden Motowylo scored his second goal of the playoffs. Aydden Shaw earned the only assist. During the second period, Rams captain Nick Jervis would take a two minute charging penalty as well as a two minute unsportsmanlike conduct that would come with a 10 minute game misconduct. Fortunately, however, the Wranglers would not capitalize on the man advantage.
In the third period Konnor Green of the Wranglers would score his second goal of the game. This time, shorthanded at 9:15, with Aydden Shaw picking up his third assist of the game on this goal to make it 4-0. Then at 12:47, the Wranglers kept pushing and would increase their lead to 5-0 after Aydden Shaw scored an unassisted goal.
The Wranglers would suffer a 5-0 loss in game 5. The Rams powerplay, however, would continue to do great as they would kill off all seven Wrangler powerplays. Meanwhile, the Rams would also go 0/7 on the powerplay as well.
Game six of the best of seven series will take place at the Rocky Arena, where the Rams will hope to force a game seven. Puck drop is at 8:30 p.m.
