The Rocky Rams have been eliminated from the Heritage Junior Hockey League playoffs by the Sylvan Lake Wranglers in game six of the second round.
In the first period of Friday night’s game, the Wranglers scored just 30 seconds into the opening frame and would take a 1-0 lead after a Zachary Daniels goal. Konnor Green and Aydden Shaw earned the assists. Throughout the first period the Rams would get outshot 8-5.
In the second period, the Rams would open the scoring at 4:26 after a Reid Christiansen goal to even the game 1-1. Tristan Hoffus and Noah Wilson earned the assists. However, at 9:41, the Wranglers would take a 2-1 lead after Ryan Wyzykoski scored on the powerplay. Ashlain Dufresne earned the lone assist. The Wranglers would then claim a 3-1 lead when Tate Causey snuck one by Rams goalie Zaiden Hansen at 14:29. Keenan Green earned the assist.
In the third period the Rams would strike late at 17:20 to get themselves within one goal. Reid Christiansen would get credit with his eighth goal of the playoffs. Quinn Tomalty and Jake Smith earned the assists. However, Wranglers forward Payton Wright would put the icing on the cake at 19:16 with an unassisted, empty net goal to seal the game 4-2 and push the Sylvan Lake Wranglers onto the next round where they will play the Airdrie Techmation Thunder beginning Wednesday, March 8, 8:00 p.m. at the NexSource Centre in Sylvan Lake.
