Recreation grant funding is now available from Clearwater County to help not-for-profit groups in the North Saskatchewan Recreation Area.
County officials say, the North Saskatchewan Recreation Area is located in the central region of the county and includes Faraway, Frisco, Buster Creek, Ferrier, Hardendell and Everdell. A detailed map of recreation districts, application forms and more information is available here.
Officials add, for the purposes of the fund, recreation refers to projects that give opportunity to people of all ages to take part in healthy and beneficial activities. Funds may also be put towards a larger recreational project that has had the majority of funds raised through other sources. Operational or maintenance costs are not covered by these grants.
Examples of previously funded projects include:
- Prentice Creek Equestrian Centre – Outhouses.
- Rocky Canoe Club – Storage equipment.
- Confluence Heritage Society – Fur Trade Play Fort Play Space.
- Cow Lake Campground/Hardindell Community Hall – swimming buoys, volleyball set & sand.
- Everdell Community Centre Association – playground build.
- Examples of other potential projects could be shale for ball diamonds, boards for ice rinks, updates to playground equipment, etc.
Applications have to be submitted by September 18, 2023 to be considered for the first round of funding.
If you are considering a project but are unsure if it applies or have any questions, contact Clearwater County’s Agriculture & Community Services department at 403-845-4444 or via email at reception@clearwatercounty.ca.
