It was a perfect evening to kick off the World Professional Chuckwagon Associations 2023 Battle of the Rockies.
Roger Moore came into this year’s event as the defending champion. Officials say this is the last chance for the drivers to try and make the top twelve for a chance to qualify for the Century Downs Racetrack and Casino Winner’s Zone Playoff Round.
After the first day, it was Wade Salmond, driving the Pidherney’s outfit, who posted the fast time of the night with a 1:13.79. Coming off barrel four in heat number eight of the evening, Wade Salmond had the fast time of the night by 93 one-hundredths of a second over his brother Evan Salmond in the evening’s sibling rivalry.
Chanse Vigen was third, Chad Fike was fourth, with Mitch Sutherland grabbing fifth place on the evening. The driver posting the best four day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will take home the 2023 Battle of the Rockies Championship.
