The Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre will be closed from Sept. 1-Nov. 30, 2023.

Town officials note, the 2023 Capital Budget earmarked $1.4 million for the aquatic centre upgrades. Officials say, this includes $700,000 to replace the main pool filtration system, and $700,000 to replace the HVAC system, which have been in the pool since it opened in 1977.

These projects are being cost-shared equally by the Town of Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater County.

Here are the upgrades coming to the Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre:

  • Installation of a new filtration system for the main pool
  • The current pool filter system is located in the basement. The system is original to the building, and replacement parts are no longer available.
  • The 2023 upgrade will relocate the main pool filter system to an existing storage room on the main floor.
  1. Installation of a new HVAC (Air handling system)
    1. Installation of two new HVAC units.
    2. Upgrades to the heat recovery system, exhaust system, and ventilation system.
    3. Installation of variable frequency drives on existing water circulation pumps.
  2. Draining, cleaning and refilling all pools.
  3. Deep cleaning of the entire facility and all equipment.
  4. Other maintenance, painting and minor repairs.

Memberships and programming

  • The pool will reopen on Dec. 1, 2023.
  • Registration for winter swimming lessons will open on Dec. 1, 2023.
  • Swim and winter lesson schedules can be found in the 2023/2024 Fall/Winter Program Guide, to be published on Sept. 4, 2023.
  • All pool memberships will be automatically suspended until the pool reopens.
  • Annual Recreation Pass holders may choose to suspend their entire pass until Dec. 1 or choose to add a three-month pool membership extension to their annual pass.
  • Recreation passes that expire during the three-month shutdown will be offered an equivalent term. (For example, if your recreation pass expires on October 30, you will be eligible for a two-month pool pass once the facility reopens.)

Aquatic Centre staff will not be available during the shutdown. Program and membership inquiries should be directed to Guest Services at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre at 403-845-3720.
