Mountain View BearSmart Society is playing a crucial role in monitoring grizzly bear populations throughout Clearwater County, in collaboration with fRI Research.
County officials say, they are using innovative methods like setting up scent lure sites surrounded by barbed wire.
Officials note, curious bears often leave behind tufts of hair during their investigations, which are collected for analysis. Officials say the DNA extracted from these samples helps identify individual bears and provides insights into the overall health and reproductive status of the bear population in the region.
