Work has begun this week on driving 300 piles to support the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Town officials say the piles are up to 60cm (2 feet) in diameter, and approximately 12 metres (40 feet) long. They will be driven into bedrock some 4 to 5 metres (16 feet) underground, over 0.7 acres.
Officials say pile driving can be noisy work, noting residents may hear regular tapping or banging sounds coming from the construction site over the next six weeks. Work will be limited to daylight hours, and as much as possible kept to weekdays only.
