The Rocky Mountain House – Caroline and Nordegg – Forestry Trunk Road Highway 734 areas are under a snowfall warning.
Meteorologists with Environment and Climate Change Canada say heavy snow at times is expected today and tonight with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm.
The affected areas include:
- Brazeau Co. near Brazeau Dam
- Brazeau Co. near Cynthia and Lodgepole
- Clearwater Co. near Caroline and James River Bridge
- Clearwater Co. near Rocky Mtn House and Crimson Lake
- O’ Chiese 203 Res. and Clearwater Co. near Sunchild Cree Res.
- Yellowhead Co. near Minnow and Wolf Lakes and Elk River
- Clearwater Co. near Chungo Creek
- Clearwater Co. near Nordegg and Big Horn Reserve
- Clearwater Co. near Ya Ha Tinda Ranch
- Yellowhead Co. near Cadomin and Robb
Officials add snowfall amounts may vary significantly as some of the snow will melt on contact with the warm ground.
Snow will end tonight over central regions tonight and on Tuesday for southern regions.
Officials remind travelers visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.
