The Rocky Rams were back in action over the weekend with a pair of games.
On Friday the Rams would travel to Three Hills to play the Thrashers, and would skate away with a 3-2 victory.
In the first period, the Thrashers would open the scoring at 4:48 after a Spencer McMillin goal. Bryce Fenton and Orrin Armstrong would get the assists. Meanwhile, just over two minutes later the Rams would tie the game 1-1. Jakob Weimer would score his third goal of the year. Kyle Humphrey earned the lone assist. Throughout the first period the shots were tied 11-11.
In the second period the Thrashers would be the ones to open the scoring again after August Olson scored a powerplay goal at 3:54. Bryce Fenton and Teagan McCullough earned the assists. The Rams would keep pushing and tie the game 2-2 with a powerplay goal of their own, when Owen Green got credit for his sixth goal of the year. The assists came off the sticks of Jake Smith and Grady Mofford. The Rams would manage to outshoot the Thrashers in the second period 17-10.
In the final frame, the Rams would outshoot the Thrashers 18-17 and would also claim their first lead of the game after Tyler Hanson picked up his first goal of the year, which would also be the game winner for a 3-2 Rams victory. Clayton Johnson and Ayden Henry assisted on the play.
Rams goalie Zaiden Hansen would have a great performance between the pipes, stopping 36 of 38 shots fired his way. The Rams would also outshoot the Thrashers 46-38.

On Sunday, the Rams hosted the Sylvan Lake Wranglers in a back and forth game which saw the Wranglers head back home with a 5-4 win.
In the first period, the Rams would get on the scoresheet first at 4:50 with a powerplay goal from Kyle Humphrey. Tristian Hoffus and Reid Christiansen picked up the assists. Humphrey’s goal would be the only one of the period. The Rams would outshoot the Wranglers 14-13.
In the second period, the Wranglers would get a powerplay goal of their own at 11:56 after Riley Teulon got his 10th goal of the year. Justin Gyori and Owen Callow earned the assists. The Wranglers would then take a 2-1 lead after Hunter Adrian scored on the powerplay at 16:44. The assists came from Owen Callow and Hayden Motowylo. The Rams would push back and would tie the game under one minute later with a goal from Tristan Hoffus. Grady Mofford and Jake Smith earned the assists. The Rams would also get outshoot in the second period 15-9.
In the third period, Sylvan Lake scored just 59 second into the frame to take a 3-2 lead. Ashlain Dufresne got credit for his fourth goal of the season, with Austin Corsiatto and Riley Teulon gathering the assists.
Then, at 9:38 the Wranglers would improve their lead to 4-2 after an Austin Corsiatto goal. Tyson Tisdale earned the lone assist. The Rams would then cut into the lead after Jake Smith scored his 18th goal of the season at 16:49, making it 4-3. Grady Mofford and Reid Christiansen earned the assists.
However, at 19:08, the Wranglers would make it 5-3 after Austin Corsiatto scored his second goal of the game and 15th of the season, assisted by Ashlain Dufresne.
The Rams would add one more goal, but it was too little too late, scoring at 19:59. Reid Christiansen who leads the Heritage Junior Hockey League in points with 46 got credit for his 18th goal of the year. Quinn Tomalty and Owen Green got credit with the assists. The Rams would also get more than doubled in shots in the final period 22-9. Throughout the game the Rams would get outshot 50-32.
Rams goalie Zaiden Hansen turned aside 45 of 50 shots on goal.
After the weekend, the Rams sit in second place in the HJHL Northern Division with a record of 11-9-3.
The Rams return to action on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, when they travel to Didsbury to play the 8-10-5 Mountainview Colts.
