The Rocky Rams have now played their last game before heading on Christmas break.

On Friday the Rams travelled to Didsbury to play the Moutainview Colts with hopes of entering their holiday break with a win. However, the Colts had other plans beating the Rams 4-0.

In the first period the Colts would open the scoring at 5:02 after a James Bartlett goal. Cohen Richardson and Emmett Barnett earned the assists. The Colts would continue to outplay the Rams throughout the first frame notching another goal at 12:48, giving the Colts a 2-0 lead. Cohen Richardson would get credit for his 14th goal of the season. The assists came off the sticks of Blake Stoddard and Paton Rothenbusch. Throughout the first period the Rams would get more than doubled in shots 13-5.

In the second period, the Rams would miss on their only opportunity of the period on the powerplay. The Rams powerplay would do their job killing off a Colts powerplay, however, forcing the Colts to go 0/3 throughout the game. The Rams would also manage to get 12 shots on net, which tied the Colts in the period.

After a scoreless second period, the Colts would get on the board again in the third period at 7:12 after an unassisted goal from Aidan Saunders. The Rams would pull their goalie in the third period for the extra attacker and it would not pay off as Wyatt Bailey would score a shorthanded empty net goal to wrap things up and give the Colts a 4-0 victory. The Rams would also get outshot again 14-12 in the third period, and 39-29 overall.

Colts goalie Jordan McGinnis had a great game between the pipes stopping all 29 shots he faced. Despite the loss, Zaiden Hansen would also have a good game between the pipes for the Rams stopping 35 of the 38 shots he faced.

Heading into the Christmas break the Rams have a record of 11-10-3 placing them in second place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Northern Division.

The Rams return to action in the New Year, when they head to Three Hills on Jan. 6, to take on the Thrashers. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at Centennial Place Arena.
