Recent awards celebrating efforts to tackle food insecurity included one recipient from central Alberta.

Sharmane Hindbo of Caroline is one of eight Wishbone Awards recipients, which includes $2,500 grants to help them fund their community efforts.

According to Think Turkey, a collaborative of Canadian turkey farmers, “Sharmane has been recognized for her unwavering dedication to ensuring all residents can enjoy a warm meal by hosting an annual turkey dinner for over 150 local community members, so that all enjoy the holidays with music, good company and a full heart and belly.”

The Wishbone Project launched in 2020, with this being the first ever awards.

In addition to the grant for each recipient, Think Turkey is giving $10,000 to Food Banks Canada.
