The Rocky Rams returned to action over the weekend with back-to-back home wins.
On Friday, the Rams would skate away with a 3-2 victory over the Three Hills Thrashers.
In the first period, the Rams would get on the board first at 14:57 after Reid Christiansen picked up his 27th goal of the season. Joshua Adeleke and Caleb Andrew earned the assists. The Rams would take a 1-0 lead into the second period. The Rams would also outshoot the Thrashers 17-10.
In the second period, the Rams would take a 2-0 lead after a powerplay goal from Jake Smith, is his 26th goal of the season. Reid Christiansen and Kyle Humphrey would get the assists. Smith’s goal would be the only goal of the period. The Rams would also put up eight more shots, while the Thrashers would add 11.
In the final frame, the Thrashers would get on the scoreboard at 4:43 after Andrew Chapman would get one by Rams goalie Lex Watson on a penalty shot. The Thrashers would then tie the game 2-2 at 17:06 after Teagan McCullough scored. August Olson and Chance Reay earned the assists. However, the tie game was short lived as Quinn Tomalty would get the game winning goal at 19:43 for a Rams 3-2 win. Grady Mofford and Reid Christiansen would earn the assists on the game winning goal. Meanwhile, the Rams would get outshot in the third period 19-6 and 40-31 throughout the game.
Rams goalie Lex Watson had a great game between the pipes stopping 38 of the 40 shots faced, while also picking up the win.

On Saturday, the struggling Ponoka Stampeders would travel to Rocky and would get blown out of the arena, falling to the Rams 12-3.
In the first period, Tristan Hoffus of the Rams would open the scoring at 2:06 giving the Rams a 1-0 lead. Quinn Tomalty and Jakob Weimer earned the assists. The Stampeders would answer at 5:08 after a Brendon Harnack goal. Connor MacLeod and Dylan Palmer earned the assists. Then, just under 30 second later the Stampeders would take a 2-1 lead after Brendon Harnack scored his second goal of the game. Jon Griffiths and Connor MacLeod earned the assists. The Rams would end up tying the game after a shorthanded goal from Jake Smith. Tristan Hoffus and Kyle Humphrey earned the assists. Throughout the first period, the Rams would outshoot the Stamps 15-8.
In the second period, the Rams would dominate, striking first at 4:29 after a Jakob Weimer goal. Noah Wilson and Jake Smith earned the assists. Then, at 6:02 the Rams would make it a 4-2 game after Reid Christiansen earned his 28th goal of the season. Grady Mofford and Kyle Humphrey would gather the assists. The Rams would make it 5-2 after Jakob Weimer picked up his second goal of the period and sixth of the season. Reid Christiansen and Clyde Goodrunning earned the assists. Jake Smith would score his 28th goal of the season at 11:14 to give the Rams a 6-2 lead over the Stampeders. Grady Mofford and Tristian Hoffus earned the assists. Meanwhile, Jakob Weimer would complete the hat-trick in the second period to give the Rams a 7-2 lead. Noah Wilson and Jake Smith earned the assists. Throughout the second period the Rams outshot the Stampeders 21-9.
In the third period the Rams would add on five more goals. Rams goal scorers included Kyle Humprey, Tristian Hoffus who would score two goals in the third period, Eric Layden and Owen Green. Meanwhile, Nathan Bernhardt would score the third goal for the Stampeders. Eric McLean would earn the loan assist. The Rams would skate away with a 12-3 win. The Rams would again outshoot the Stampeders 19-9 in the final frame and 55-26 throughout the game.
The Rams now have a record 16-17-3 and sit in third place in the Heritage Junior Hockey Leagues Northern Division.
The Rams return to action on Feb. 16, when they travel to Mountainview for a date with the Colts. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at the Didsbury Memorial Complex Arena.
