The Rocky Rams wrapped up their regular season over the weekend with back-to-back wins and will enter the playoffs on a five-game winning streak.
On Friday, the Rams travelled to Didsbury to play the Mountainview Colts. The Rams would end up winning a close 5-4 game.
In the first period, the Colts would open the scoring at 2:20 after a Paton Rothenbusch goal. Ashton Rach and Whyatt Bailey earned the assists. Meanwhile, at 10:10 Grady Mofford of the Rams would tie the game 1-1 after scoring his seventh goal of the season. The assists came off the sticks of Tristan Hoffus and Owen Green. The tie game was short-lived, however, as the Colts would claim a 2-1 lead just 17 seconds later after a Haiden Parks goal. Mitchell McDermid and Blake Stoddard gathered the assists. The Colts would then take a 3-1 lead at 15:01 after Haiden Parks found the back of the net for his second goal of the game. Paton Rothenbusch earned the loan assist. At the end of the first period, the shots were 11-9 in favour of the Colts.
In the second period, Cohen Richardson of the Colts would improve their lead to 4-1 at 14:38. Haiden Parks would gather the only assist. Richardson’s goal would turn out to be the only goal of the period. Throughout the middle frame the Colts would outshoot the Rams 16-11.
Meanwhile, in the third and final period, the Rams sticks would come to life as Owen Green would pick up his 11th goal of the season on the powerplay at 3:23 to cut the Colts lead in half to 4-2. Tristan Hoffus and Jake Smith earned the assists. The Rams would strike again just 31 seconds later to make it a 4-3 game after Quinn Tomalty found the back of the net. Reid Christiansen and Grady Mofford gathered the assists. Then at 10:05 Reid Christiansen of the Rams and who was recently named the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player, picked up his 29th goal of the season to tie the game 4-4. Clayton Johnson earned the only assist. The Rams would then complete the comeback at 13:54 after Jake Smith would score the game winning goal. Kyle Humphrey and Caleb Andrew earned the assists. Throughout the third period, the Colts would again outshoot the Rams 11-10 and 38-30 throughout the game.

On Sunday, the Rams wrapped up their season with a 9-3 victory on the road over the Ponoka Stampeders.
In the first period, the Rams would get on the scoreboard at 4:30 after Jake Smith earned his 30th goal of the season. Quinn Tomalty and Reid Christiansen gathered the assists. Then, on the powerplay, the Rams would make it a 2-0 lead after Reid Christiansen would score his 30th goal of the season. Kyle Humphrey and Clyde Goodrunning earned the assists. Christiansen would find the back of the net again in the first period for his second goal of the game and 31st of the season to make it 3-0. Quinn Tomalty and Clayton Johnson picked up the assists. Throughout the first period, the Rams would outshoot the Stampeders 12-7.
In the second period, Tristan Hoffus would score his 20th goal of the season at 1:07 to give the Rams a 4-0 lead. Jake Smith and Joshua Adeleke chipped in with the helpers. However, at 5:44, the Stampeders would get on the scoreboard after an unassisted goal from Aidan Sigfusson. The Stampeders would then make it 4-2 after Sigfusson would score his second goal of the game at 10:06. This time Brendon Harnack and Dawson Slaney earned the assists. Meanwhile, the Rams powerplay would strike again at 12:40 when Grady Mofford picked up his eighth goal of the season. The assists came off the sticks of Jake Smith and Kyle Humphrey. The Rams powerplay was not done yet, as Jake Smith scored his second goal of the game and 31st of the season to give the Rams a 6-2 lead. The assists would come from Tristan Hoffus and Grady Mofford. Then, in the final second of the period, the Rams would make it 7-2 after Kyle Humphrey found the back of the net. Grady Mofford and Tristian Hoffus earned the assists. Throughout the second period the Rams outshot the Stampeders 13-8.
In the final frame, Hunor Takacs of the Stampeders would score just 13 second into the period to make it 7-3. Brendon Harnack earned the only assist. At 4:05 Jake Smith would complete the hat-trick to give the Rams a comfy 8-2 lead. Grady Mofford would pick up his third assist of the game on that goal , while Kyle Humphrey would get credit for the other. The Rams would then get their last goal of the game on the powerplay at 17:35. Noah Wilson would get credit for his second goal of the season, with Quinn Tomalty and Reid Christiansen earning the assists. Throughout the final period, the Rams would outshoot the Stampeders 15-7 and 40-22 throughout the game.
The Rams completed the season with an 18-17-3 record with 39 points, while finishing third place in the Heritage Junior Hockey Leagues Northern Division.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, for their first playoff game against the Mountainview Colts who finished the season in second place in the Northern Division with a record of 17-15-6 and 40 points. The series is a best of five, with the Colts having home ice advantage.
