Teams from around the region will be in our community for four days of curling competition at the Pidherney Curling Center.
According to organizer Len Doroschuk Jr., it’s going to be a busy weekend. “We’re running a full roster of thirty two teams. One hundred and twenty eight participants. We’re really excited about a full turnout.”
Doroschuk Jr. also notes that it’s not only about having a good time, but giving back to the community. “Our flagship sponsorship in the community is four local scholarships. We’re very proud of that and we’ve been able to give those scholarships out for over ten years.”
Doroschuk Jr. adds the focus of the scholarships has shifted a over the years. “Historically, the scholarships were focused on careers in the oil & gas sector. We’ve opened that up, we want to paint with a wide brush. [W]e’re looking for candidates who will be entering industrial careers, construction and skilled trades.”
First draw is at 3 PM Thursday at the Pidherney Curling Center.
Six draws on Friday with the first draw at 8 AM and the last draw at 8:30 PM.
Four draws on Saturday with the first at 8 AM with the last draw at 3:30 PM.
