During the April 2 council meeting, Rocky Mountain House councilors hosted a presentation from Accurate Assessment Ltd.
In their presentation, the Sherwood Park-based firm showed calculations of overall property values within the town of Rocky Mountain House.
According to the firm’s calculations, assessed overall residential property values for 2023 were $739,018,860- an increase of 6% from 2022.
For non residential, the overall assessed value in 2023 was $273,937,060- up 2% from 2022.
According to calculations, the grand total assessment was $1,229,373,230.
Mayor Debbie Baich says the town is taking a hard look at the numbers. “We just wanted to know how they came up with the numbers. We wanted to make sure it was the most accurate and appropriate for our community.”
Baich also says the assessment shows some positive signs for the community. “I feel that it shows that we’ve had some small growth. Some of it could be renovations and expansions and a couple new businesses. Economic development is so important to our community and it’s one of our strategic goals for council.”
