As reported by 94.5 Rewind Radio news, Rocky Mountain House town council has been lobbying Canada Post for improved mail service in the industrial area east of highway 11.
As of this week’s council meeting, the town says it has received a response from Canada Post. The letter, dated March 21 from Canada Post’s manager of government & community affairs (Alberta) Don Cooper reads in part:
Thank you for your letter regarding your request for a change of mail delivery to select areas in the Town of Rocky Mountain House. Canada Post receives requests for changes to methods of mail delivery from communities like Rocky Mountain House frequently and Canada Post reviews existing methods of mail delivery to communities and reviews the requests to changes to mail delivery. As such, I am in the process to request a review of the mail delivery method for the areas you specified in Rocky Mountain House. Reviews of the mail delivery encompasses many factors and are carefully evaluated before Canada Post responds or engages in any plans to change existing mail delivery methods. Any action taken by Canada Post would require consideration of the broader context of Canada Post’s operations and commitments. Once a review is completed, I would be in a position to meet with the Town of Rocky Mountain House Council. I expect to be able to meet in roughly 2 to 3 weeks. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
Mayor Debbie Baich says the town wants to make the most of the opportunity. “We are asking anybody that’s in town that has an unserviceable address to contact the town office with their address information so that we can add it to our ongoing list.”
You can contact the town office at 403-845-2866.
