West Country Family Services says it is looking for dedicated, volunteer drivers to assist in driving seniors to non emergent medical trips.
Volunteers with the Community Access Transportation Program are required to have a class 4 drivers license and complete a vulnerable seniors check.
Marina Kulich, Executive Director with West Country Family Services Association says there is flexibility with the volunteer position.
“We really do work with our volunteers to meet their availability. Sometimes we find its people who are already retired and are looking to give back to the community. We make those considerations on an individual basis.”
Kulich adds that statistics from 2023 shows that demand for the program is growing.
“For Clearwater County, we’ve delivered about 153 trips, representing about 29 clients. Total hours of travel logged by our volunteers is 771. Kilometers traveled is over 29,000. Rocky Mountain House had over 900 trips logged with over 2500 hours and over 66,000 kilometers.”
