Organizers with Rocky Rugby and Orca Rugby Association will be hosting an hour of rugby-related activities so kids aged to 5-15 can try out the sport.
Local representative and coach with Rocky Rugby, Rachel Lothian says it’s all about having fun.
“We’re going to be doing a series of fun games with all the youth that attend,” say Lothian. “We’re just going to teach the fundamentals of rugby and just a lot of fun and running around.”
The free Try Rugby event will go April 25 at the Co-op Credit Union Field in Rocky Mountain House from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Lothian says there has been a high level of interest in the Rugby in Rocky program.
“[There’s been] definitely more interest than I was originally thinking for our first year,” says Lothian. “We’re blown away and very happy with all the interest we’ve been getting.”
Lothian says there’s no cap on the number of kids that can sign up, and there’s still time before the May 7 start date.
