According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Clearwater County region is under a Snowfall Warning.
Officials say widespread snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are expected by Thursday evening.
They add this long duration snowfall event could produce total snowfall amounts as high as 30 to 50 cm along the foothills.
ECCC officials say snow will be heavy and wet, and will be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall accumulations will vary widely. Snow will taper off to flurries Thursday evening then finally end early Friday morning.
