Rocky Mountain House RCMP, with assistance from the RCMP Southern Alberta Emergency Response Team, have arrested an individual that police say was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Mounties say Elijah Strawberry was arrested at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nation on May 28, 2024.
Police say a search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence during which a search yielded the following:
- An unsecured sawed-off rifle;
- Numerous unsecured rounds of ammunition;
- Approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine.
As a result, 22-year-old Elijah Strawberry, a resident of O’Chiese First Nation, has been charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm while unauthorized;
- Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized;
- Possession of unloaded prohibited firearm together with readily accessible ammunition;
- Alter, deface or remove the serial number on a firearm;
- Possession of a firearm contrary to order (X2);
- Uttering threats;
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Carrying a concealed weapon;
- Breach of Probation;
- Possession of controlled substance.
RCMP officials say Strawberry was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, with his next court date set for May 30, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
