Due to resource and staff limitations, Clearwater County officials say it is temporarily pausing the intake of new artifacts for a new exhibit at the Nordegg Discovery Centre (NDC).
On May 22, 2024, Nordegg unveiled the exhibit, entitled “Among Clear Waters: Stories of This Place”.
Officials say, as the NDC settles into its new routine following the successful launch of “Among Clear Waters: Stories of This Place”, it is facing resource and staff limitations that prevent it
from accepting new artifact collections at this time.
“We are thrilled with the community’s enthusiastic response to the new exhibit,” says Clearwater County Reeve Michelle Swanson. “However, as our team adjusts to the increased visitor traffic
and the demands of maintaining the new exhibit, we must temporarily pause the intake of new artifacts.”
County officials say it understands and appreciates the community’s eagerness to contribute to the exhibit with their cherished artifacts.
It adds that the NDC looks forward incorporating contributed artifacts to the collection in the near future.
Officials are kindly asking that area residents hold onto their artifacts until it is ready to collect them. They add that this additional time will allow staff to fully settle into their new roles
and ensure it can properly catalog and care for each item.
“Today, Nordegg finds itself once again in a time of transition, and the NDC is in a position to anchor that change,” continued Reeve Swanson. “The grand opening of the exhibit is about celebrating the rich history, culture, and spirit of Nordegg that makes it such a special place.”
Officials anticipate resuming artifact collection after the busy season ends and will make an announcement when it is ready to accept new contributions.
In the meantime, officials encourage everyone to visit the Nordegg Discovery Centre and experience the new exhibit.
