Due to hot and dry conditions in the region, a fire advisory is now in effect for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, according to officials with Alberta Fire Bans.
Under this advisory:
Safe burning practices are permitted:
· Safe wood campfires
· Backyard fire pits
· Gas & liquid-powered appliances
· Indoor wood fires
· Cooking, warming and lighting devices (all devices must be CSA approved)
· Portable propane fire pits
· Open flame oil devices
Officials say a fire restriction or fire ban may be put in place if conditions change.
A similar advisory was announced July 9 for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.
Officials add, you should never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.
