West Country residents are invited to drop off bottle donations for a special, Alberta-wide ‘Day of Caring’ for those affected by the Jasper wildfire.
Drop-off day is Wednesday, July 31, and as Moe, program director and afternoon host for 94.5 Rewind Radio says, donations can be brought right to the station.
“We will have our own Rocky Credit Union community cruiser parked at the station,” says Moe. “We’ll have the back popped open. We’ll have the truck on site ’til 3:30 in the afternoon.
The radio station is located at 4814 49 St.
If people are unable to come to the 94.5 Rewind Radio studios, Moe says donations can be brought to any Alberta bottle depot from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.- and simply say “these are for Jasper”.
Every radio station in Alberta is joining together to help support those affected by the Jasper Wildfire through the Red Cross, say Moe, with the proceeds going to the Red Cross and those impacted by the wildfires across Alberta.
Additionally, Moe says the provincial and federal governments will each be matching donations. The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta will match every dollar donated by Canadians to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Fires Appeal. This means that every $1 donated will become $3 to support those affected by the wildfires. Eligible donations already received will be matched.
“We just wanted to do our part, so we reached out to other radio companies in the radio world, and they all agreed, ‘yeah, let’s do this for Jasper,” says Moe.
If anyone doesn’t have bottle donations but would still wish to make a monetary donation, they can do so at www.albertadayofcaring.com, or by texting RADIO to 20222.
