Local partners including Clearwater County and the Town of Rocky Mountain House have come together to present a free upcoming tourism forum designed to support businesses throughout the region.
Those involved in bars, restaurants, hotels, campgrounds, ag tourism, equestrian, fishing, and many other sectors are invited to attend the forum, which organizers say will present a great opportunity to connect with industry peers and to gain valuable insights into boosting business.
The forum will include expert talks on communications, brand awareness and integrity, social media management, and more.
Travel Alberta will also be making a special presentation pertaining to tourism initiatives.
Michelle Meatheringham, executive director of the Rocky Chamber, says the current state of the West Country tourism industry is good, but there’s room for improvement.
“Absolutely there’s potential to grow the tourism industry in Rocky Mountain House and Clearwater County,” says Meatheringham. “The event brings together tourism operators for learning and networking; [it’s about getting to know] what others are doing, to expand your business or compliment theirs.”
As for other business-bolstering initiatives undertaken by the Rocky Chamber, Meatheringham says the organization launched the Discover Rocky and David Thompson Country tourism committee earlier in 2024.
“We work with both the Town and County tourism operators, plus Travel Alberta, and the idea is to promote Rocky Mountain destinations,” she says.
The event takes place Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Pine Hills Golf Club.
Registration is required before Oct. 23. Those interested can e-mail vic@rockychamber.org or call 403-845-5450.
