Scares, candy and spooky dance moves are all on the docket as the Rocky Kinettes presents its Halloween Games & Ghouls event Oct. 31 at the Lou Soppit Community Centre.
Along with prizes and a Halloween dance, organizers say the event will also feature games for the little ones, and an ages 10-plus ‘jump scare’ Haunted Hallway.
The event has now now been running for five years in a row, says Carolyn Lavallee, West Country Kinette Club member.
She says the organization is excited to bring back the Haunted Hallway.
“So it’s going to be a little bit of a theatre scene because we’re going to do it up on the stage at the Lou Soppit,” says Lavallee. “So that’ll be for children ages 10 plus, and we’ve actually added a couple of actors this year to do some jump scares.”
She adds, there will be plenty for very young children including hot potato musical chairs, limbo and fun music geared toward kids.
Lavallee says the event will also feature nostalgic games from adults’ childhoods including the ‘mystery box’ full of faux brains, guts and spiders.
While admission for the event is free, cash and non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Lord’s Food Bank.
The Games & Ghouls event is one of the key annual fundraisers for the Lord’s Food Bank.
David Mark Carter, executive director for the Lord’s Food Bank says there are other food and fundraisers planned such as the annual Stuff A Cruiser, as well as many churches in the area that have planned drives.

The Halloween Games & Ghouls event will take place Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lou Soppit Community Centre (Jordan Rein/94.5 Rewind Radio)
“There will be prizes and we always give out candy and a little gift bag for the kids to take out with them as they leave for trick-or-treating for the night.”
Along with a goodie bag for the kids, Lavallee says the Kinettes are currently asking a few businesses around town to donate some gift cards prizes.
The event will run Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Lavallee notes the organization is still looking for volunteers to help with set up and take down. For anyone interested, they can reach out here.
