The Rocky Rams have extended their losing streak to five games following a pair of weekend losses.
The Rams wrapped up a five-game road trip Oct. 25 against the Mountainview Colts with a 3-0 shutout loss down in Didsbury.
Rams goaltender Cole McLean had a standout performance despite the loss, turning away 52 Colts shots with a .945 save percentage.
“I think the shots on goal weren’t reflective of the actual shots on goal at the end of the game,” says Wendall Mason, head coach. “Our guys couldn’t execute, and probably got a little too cute instead of shooting the puck.”
Back at home Saturday for the first time since Oct. 5, the Rams suffered another loss; this time to the visiting Airdrie Techmation Thunder.
The Rams got the scoring started early with Keagan Landry finding the net less than a minute into the game.
However, it was the last time the Rams would hold the lead as Airdrie scored two quick goals at the end of the opening frame and didn’t look back.
Mason says he believes the Rams were the better team in the tilt, but a fateful seven-minute stretch in the second period shifted momentum to the Thunder.
The final score was 4-2.
The 4-7-0 Rams will look to bounce back as the team hits the road again to kick off November.
The team will visit High River on Nov. 1 and Red Deer on Nov. 2.
