The Rocky Rams played two blowout games on the weekend— one in their favour and one not.
On Friday, the Rams scored seven unanswered goals en-route to a 9-1 victory against the Ponoka Stampeders.
Offence was spread out with Clayton Johnson, Jake Smith, Reid Christiansen, Cooper Lawrence, Keegan Landry, Quinn Schriver, Kyle Humphrey and Gradey Mofford all finding the net.
However, the ice was tilted the other direction on Saturday as the team wrapped up its road trip with a lopsided loss to the Cannex Cochrane Generals.
Quinn Schriver found the net just 30 seconds into the game, but it would be the last time Rocky would hold the lead.
“I thought it was our best start of the year, to be honest,” says head coach Wendall Mason. “We ran into some penalty trouble, it’s just the way the game went and it fell apart a little bit”
The Generals scored six unanswered goals, including four in the second frame. Final score 6-1 Cochrane.
The 6-8 Rams are set to kick off a three-game homestand on Saturday Nov. 16.
“Nine of the last 10 games have been on the road,” says Mason. “It’s good for our guys to get back in front of our fans, and feed off the energy in the building.”
The Rams will meet the Carstar Okotoks Bisons for the first time this season.
Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the Rocky Arena Complex.
