Rocky Mountain House will canvass business owners in the east-end industrial park about the possibility of improved Canada Post service.
At its Jan. 7 meeting, council resolved to draft a letter to area businesses, gauging support for the installation of Canada Post super boxes in the area.
Coun. Shippelt first raised the issue last winter, noting that businesses east of Highway 11 lack mail delivery. “There’s just no mail service for the industrial area east of Highway 11. We’re trying to get service for everyone in Rocky Mountain House,” he said.
Shippelt pointed to other similar-sized communities, such as Sylvan Lake and Drayton Valley, which he says have adequate super box coverage in their industrial areas. “I look forward to pushing Canada Post to bring super boxes to our industrial area,” he added.
Currently, businesses in the area must travel to the local post office to collect their mail. Shippelt also noted that residents near town office and old post office also lack access to super boxes.
In 2024, various efforts were made to address the issue, including outreach to Canada Post and MP Gerald Soroka.
