Clearwater County and neighboring Mountain View County recently met together to discuss common interests.
On January 13, 2025, members of the Clearwater and Mountain View County Intermunicipal Collaboration Committee (ICC) met to discuss shared services, including a review of the existing Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) agreement. The ICF plays a crucial role in ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently for the provision of local services and that both municipalities contribute funding to services that benefit their residents.
Under the Municipal Government Act (MGA), municipalities that share a boundary are required to create an ICF and establish an ICC. The committee is scheduled to meet at least once every four years to identify intermunicipal opportunities and challenges. Officials add the ICC does not make decisions directly but prioritizes issues, guiding recommendations for consideration by each municipality’s council.
At the recent meeting, topics included road conditions, mutual aid agreements, and the ICF agreement itself.
Both Clearwater County and Mountain View County expressed satisfaction with the spirit of collaboration and look forward to future discussions on common interests and opportunities.
