Prospective candidates in the 2025 Rocky Mountain House Municipal Election can now access the town’s Candidate Handbook, a comprehensive guide designed for individuals interested in running for the positions of mayor or councillor.
The handbook outlines steps in the election process, including nomination requirements, eligibility criteria, important dates, and rules for campaigning.
The Candidate Handbook provides detailed information on the eligibility requirements for candidates, including the need to be a resident of the local jurisdiction for six consecutive months prior to the nomination day.
For campaign contributions, candidates may accept donations from individual Alberta residents up to a maximum of $5,000 per campaign period. Additionally, candidates may self-fund their campaigns up to a maximum of $10,000. The handbook also includes important rules regarding campaign advertising, outlining the standards candidates must follow during the election period.
The full Candidate Handbook is available for download online, or can be picked up at the town office during regular business hours.
Nomination papers can be submitted now up to the final day for filing being Monday, Sept. 22, 2025 at 12 p.m. Election Day will be on Oct. 20, 2025, and the official election results will be announced on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.
