Residents of Rocky Mountain House will have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates in the upcoming federal election at a forum hosted by the Rocky Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, April 10.
The event will give voters a chance to hear from candidates running in the Yellowhead riding.
Candidates named so far include William Stevenson, representing the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC); Avni Soma, running for the New Democratic Party (NDP); Vicky Bayford, nominated by the People’s Party of Canada (PPC); Michael Fark, running for the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC); and Dale Heath, running for the Christian Heritage Party of Canada (CHP).
Invitations have been sent out to all candidates. Michelle Meatheringham, executive director of the Rocky Chamber says four candidates have confirmed their attendance.
Questions will be taken from the floor in written form, or participants can submit their questions ahead of time by emailing admin@rockychamber.org by 12 p.m. on April 10.
Meatheringham say the event comes amid a quick turnaround for the election, and chambers of commerce across the Yellowhead riding have coordinated to ensure businesses and residents in each community in the large area can attend a forum.
While organizers were previously working on a virtual option for those unable to attend in person, Meatheringham says it will be an in-person forum only.
The forum will be held Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Clearwater Room at the Walking Eagle Inn & Lodge, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
